Growth Data for What's not Already Covered

Under HB 2, every teacher type must be eligible for designation in Texas districts' Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) systems, and each system needs a valid student growth measure.

For many K–2, ESL, IPC, Chemistry, and Physics teachers, no STAAR® growth measure exists. Summit K12 Growth Assessments are built to fill that gap with a TEKS-aligned Beginning-of-Year pre-test and a matched End-of-Year post-test.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Growth Assessments be used as a student growth measure for TIA?

Growth Assessments are new for 2026–27 and are built for the pre-test/post-test growth model that many Texas districts use for teaching assignments without a STAAR® growth measure. Each district decides which growth measures to include in its local designation system and submits that system to TEA. Our team can share sample reports and walk your TIA committee through how Growth Assessments work.

Which grades and courses are covered?

English Language Development: K–12. Science: K–8 (English and Spanish), Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and IPC. Each is available as a standalone solution or as an add-on to Connect to Literacy™ (ELD) or Dynamic Science™ and Ciencias Dinámicas (science).

Do we need to use Summit K12 programs?

No. Growth Assessments can be purchased as a standalone, so any district can use them. Districts already using Connect to Literacy™ for English Language Development or Dynamic Science™ and Ciencias Dinámicas for science can also add them on, so growth data comes from the same platform their teachers already use.

When are the assessments given?

At the beginning of the year to set a baseline and at the end of the year to measure growth. TEKS Mastery data is available in between to guide instruction.
